Successes
Some of our successes of the last few years
In 2009, six pupils have won places at Adams' Grammar School and Newport High School.

From 2004 - 2009, pupils in year 6 have won 38 places at maintained grammar schools.  They have also won numerous places, scholarships and awards at prestigious independent senior schools, including Stafford Grammar School, Shrewsbury High School, Wrekin College, The Cheltenham Ladies College, Ellesmere College, Wolverhampton Grammar School and Moreton Hall.  Classes have averaged 14 pupils, of mixed ability, over the period.

In 2008, the school was ranked "Outstanding" by inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
In 2008, the school was presented with the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Award of Excellence, in recognition of the outstanding achievements of its gymnastics teams in national, regional and county competitions since 2000.
From 2004 to 2009, the school has organised the ISA national gymnastics championships, winning team and individual titles for six consecutive years.
In December 2008, the school choir gave excellent performances of six songs at a Christmas concert for charity, in aid of the Cottage Care Centre, at St Nicholas Church, Newport.  Three of the songs they performed were written by our own music teacher.
The 2008 - 2009 netball team enjoyed an excellent season.  They have won 15 out of 16 inter-school matches and were ISA Midlands champions.
In the last four years, first-class drama productions involving every pupil have included "Joseph", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Robin Hood, a musical" and "Twelfth Night".  The Shakespeare plays used the full language of the plays.
In 2008, Castle House was awarded the Derek Hayward Trophy by Shropshire SSAAA for the best primary school sports team in the whole of Shropshire.  The school's gymnastics teams had also won the trophy in 2006 and 2004.
Charities.  In the last five years, more than £10000 has been raised for charity by pupils, most of it in ventures organised by themselves.
Confidence.  Each year, head pupils and senior monitors have made their own speeches to the large audience on Speech Day.
In October 2008, Alice, year 6, won the ISA Midlands under 11 art competition, the sixth consecutive year the school has had a winner.  In 2007, Rebekah, year 2, was a winner of both the Midlands ISA and National ISA under 7 art competitions.
The school team became bronze medallists (3rd place) in the Telford and Wrekin Schools Tag Rugby competition, at the first time of entry.
Pupils have won numerous certificates, many with merits or distinctions, in Associated Board music exams or LAMDA speech and drama, over the past few years.  Many chess players have qualified for area "megafinals" or national "gigafinals" of the UK Chess Challenge.
In 2006, three members of the school became licensed radio operators after taking the four day training course - as did two parents!
In 2006, the headmaster was re-elected to the ISA national executive council.  He is also chairman of Midlands ISA and a regular team Inspector for ISI.
