  • FOOD & NUTRITION | Castle House School

Food & Nutrition Exceptional Team We are very fortunate to have developed a fantastic team to deliver our food and nutrition offer to our children. Lead by Head Chef Nick, we produce medals and snacks to restaurant standard. Freshly prepared on site, every day. Five a Day - Every Day! Whether it is snack time, lunch time or high tea, you will always find fresh fruit and crudités on offer. Children are encouraged to eat a balanced diet and make good choices. Variety and Choice We all understand that some children can be fussy eaters. We aim to produce a wide variety of foods to suit all tastes. However, the presentation and 'theatre' added to our lunchtimes encourages even the fussiest of eaters to try something new! Manners Cost Nothing From the babies in the nursery to year six, all children dine together in Davis Hall accompanied by the teaching staff. We allow our children to be independent at the same time as encouraging good table manners, What our parents say Laura , Mother of George The food has been amazing this week! A Michelin Star has been awarded.

  • 11+ PREPARATION | Castle House School

Our approach to 11+ Here at Haberdashers' Castle House we recognise pressures that are placed on young people and their families to pass the 11+ exam which they sit at the start of Year 6. There is no right or wrong formula to this and we would certainly advise away for 'over tutoring' children to simply pass an exam. Our approach is simple. Familiarity is key. Children that understand the format, process and expectations of examinations from an early age will stand a far greater chance of achieving their goals. What to expect from Haberdashers' Castle House GL Testing from Year 2 to ensure that children become relaxed and confident when faced with. examination conditions. These results are shared with parents Fun, interactive and age appropriate extra curricular activities Specific, targeted tutoring tailored to each individual using internal and external specialist tutors in Years 4 & 5 'Next Steps' suite with mimics the layout of typical examination conditions. Comprehensive programme of pastoral support to identify concerns early and provide support. We are a non-selective school The 11+ entry route to Senior School is not right for every child. At HCHS we pride ourselves on being a truly non-selective school. At both entry to the school and as children progress through the school, we support parents in their journey.
